In the same vein as keeping up with my daily flossing, I’m also doing a stellar job keeping all three of my bank accounts updated in Quicken. Like, when I write a check, I immediately update Quicken. No more waiting six months to update. No more grueling hours of adding past entries. No more gnashing of teeth. No more tearing o’ the hair. And the day the bank statement arrives, it’s balanced. That’s the rule. (Note: The rule’s been made many times, but never consistently followed.) Following the rule, it turns out, is the way to go.
