shadow19's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Five Day Recap Soooo…here it is. The Saturday of my week off. I’m feeling better, less raw-nerve-like, and there are still three days to enjoy. Here’s a little vacation summary… Things I’ve done over the past week: • Worked on some Sodoku puzzles, though still at the “easy” level. I always feel like I should be doing something more productive when I’m working on puzzles, so the book has been laying around for awhile. But mental exercise should count for something, shouldn’t it? Especially since my memory has taken a nose-dive as of late. Another menopause-related malady, I read. • Sent a handmade card to a friend who sent me a kitty cartoon last weekend. This made me want to get going on my card-making again, though the weather’s been so nice that I’ve been on the patio much of the time. I did pick up a new set of stamps yesterday, so I’m feeling energized again. Maybe later today I’ll work on a design, then produce! • Caught up on magazine reading…Body and Soul, Everyday with Rachael Ray, Real Simple, etc. Again, on the patio. This newly warm weather is soooo welcome, after last weekend’s rain and chill. I hate being inside. • Ala Catie, picked up some binders so that I can clip and organize the recipes, craft ideas, personal affirmations, and plain cool ideas that I come across in magazines. Then the magazine can be tossed, and I’ll have nicely organized references. • Had lunch at Belhurst Castle and then a took a tour of Rose Hill Mansion, both in Geneva, NY. A little band of women from church made the trek out to the Finger Lakes on Tuesday, and had a great time just getting away for the day. Soaked up a lot of historical information from the tour guide, too. • Ushered at the college’s commencement ceremony for the first time. Other than a tiny incident with the president’s husband (oops!), everything went fine. And Anna Quindlen’s speech, “Fear Not,” was JUST what I needed to hear. Things I haven’t done over the past week: • Started jogging. But I have been walking nightly with Fred and the pups. My weight has been creeping up ever so slightly over the past few years, and I keep thinking that I should start up a jogging program, but I really do hate it. And the people who jog look so darned miserable. I’d rather walk with my dogs, see the sights (and enjoy an occasional piece of pie), than run and have my lungs heave themselves out of my body. But that’s just me. • Balance all of the bank accounts. Again, this is a rainy day activity, and I’ll get to it before long. I don’t think they’re too out of whack anyway. Fred is working a bit this morning, but once he gets home, I think we’ll walk, then hit the road for Brooks BBQ. Great day for a little road trip, some mighty fine chicken, and REAL French fries. This is livin’. 11:21 a.m. - 2006-05-27 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
