Sunday Notes

Some Notes About Today

1) People who drop wads of blue gum next to your car so that step in it when you're busy concentrating on the steak and cheese sub that you're carrying should be given life in prison. Or they should, at least, be forced to continuously listen to the music (and I use that term loosely) that's blasting from the neighborhood ice cream truck.

2) Someone must have rubbed knock-out juice on the zero-gravity chair that we have on the patio. One minute I was wide awake, chuckling my way through my favorite recipe book ("Beat This" by Ann Hodgman), and the next minute I was waking up in an admittedly drooly fog.

3) As I watched the masses running the Boilermaker Road Race, I was 90% glad that I wasn't one of them. I even had the nerve to gripe that my back was a little achy from standing for so long. Not that I'm proud of this. The other 10% of me wishes that I could muster up the moxie needed to buckle down and do the training necessary to run 9 miles, like the young woman who suffered a stroke in 2003 and participated in today's race, despite having a right leg that doesn't work quite right.

4) I have a nice marinara sauce in the Crock-Pot, chicken breasts marinating in the refrigerator, and chicken prepped for chicken salad. After coasting for awhile, I've regained some energy for meal prep.

5) The reading plan is working very well. Last weekend I finished Life of Pi, and immediately started in on Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates. I also made a fast sale of Life of Pi on Amazon. Success does a lot to keep a plan in motion.

6) I've signed up to give blood for the first time at work on Tuesday and I'm trying not to think about it. All they had to do was promise prizes and a free lunch to get me to part with a pint of my A negative. I've been meaning to do this for a LONG time.

7) We're headed out to the Alison Krauss concert in about 25 minutes. Sunday night is so much sweeter when you know that you have Monday off.

That's it in a wordy nutshell.
