shadow19's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Hours. I just (re)watched "The Hours," having seen it once before and having read the (incredible) book during the summer. Near the end, Virginia Woolf is asked by her husband, Leonard, why one of her novel's characters must die and she says, "One of us must die so that the rest of us will value life." And maybe that is the take-away lesson. Tsunami, war, ordinary death...maybe they exist so that we remember to really inhabit our hours. To be grateful, even for the tough days. To remain present. To cut out the bullshit. When the hell will this sink in? 11:29 p.m. - 2005-01-01 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
