shadow19's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not Tuesday. For the record: I'm not loving the word "mandate" so much right now. When I woke up this morning, I thought it was Tuesday. Don't ask me why. Maybe I was disoriented from dreaming that I was trying to shower in a glass-enclosed unit that was exposed to a busy city street. Slowly shook off the dream and realized that it was Saturday. Stretched and turned over. After a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats (clunky name, I think, but the almonds are good), I headed off to a holiday church bazaar and a local juried craft show with mom. We hit the church first as the non-Nana craft items are few and far between and must be snapped up early. An added attraction this year was a table of "once read" books. I snapped up Life Of Pi and The Covenant for $1.00 apiece. This has buoyed me up all day. The craft show was busy but manageable, and the day turned out to be sunnier and milder than expected, so we left our coats in the car and browsed without overheating. (After yesterday's thunder, lightning, snow, sleet, and icy rain, hitting the high 40's today felt like a virtual sauna.) I picked up a few choice items...a handful of (sturdily-made) catnip stuffed toys for the cats, sugar-roasted almonds, tangerine lip balm, and a pair of whimsical candy-filled paper "Christmas pigs." The pigs, fashioned by a wonderful local paper artist, are cuter than heck, neatly boxed, stuffed with tiny peppermints, come with a short history of the "Christmas Pig," and signify the wish for PEACE and prosperity in the new year. A real steal at $3.50. I will need more pigs, I think. Later, Fred and I did a little indoor pistol shooting, then had a bite of dinner, and split a piece of cake at Barnes & Noble (via a gift card).
