Resolution: This year I'm only buying Christmas gifts that are square (okay...or rectangular) to simplify the wrapping process. No more struggling with a wad of tissue paper to wrap an odd-shaped round thing. Nope. Not this year. This shall be my shopping criteria. Ahhh...the plan for 2004. I feel better already. (Better yet, let's not shop.) Though the weather was pretty decent on Saturday, we holed up in the basement and purged, purged, purged. Boxes obviously breed when we're not looking. As do berry baskets. We had heaps of both. We threw out the warped half of the ping-pong table (the other half makes a great project table), cruddy shoes, boxed up ancient clothes, etc., etc., etc. Fred scored a couple of massive shelf units at work and so everything that remained has been binned, labelled, and shelved. It's still a basement, but I can't stop going down and staring at in amazement. It was a LONG time coming, and almost worth the lousy lunch we wolfed down on Saturday. Lunch was...ummm...leftover sauerkraut. Is it any wonder that I had the shakes by late afternoon? We rewarded ourselves with a much deserved Lebanese dinner. I basically inhaled it. The good thing about "the purging of the stuff" is that the momentum just keeps on building. We ripped into some messy parts of the garage, as well as a few kitchen cupboards that had run amuck. More to do in the days ahead. Maybe Fred will finally toss those shirts from high school. Ya think? I'm eyeing yet another journal in The Reader's Catalog.
